Thousands of seriously ill children are living without the specialist care they need.
Support our Nurses Appeal to establish more Roald Dahl Nurses across the UK.
It is hard for most of us to imagine what life is like for children with complex medical conditions. Their families are often searching for answers before they get a diagnosis, and navigating treatments and tests afterwards.
They’re often under the care of multiple specialists, at multiple hospitals across the UK, but they also face extensive needs beyond traditional healthcare. This reality makes navigating the healthcare system and coordinating their care complex and confusing for families.
Our nurses – Roald Dahl Nurses – change that experience. They join families on this journey, helping them navigate the healthcare they need, and becoming an ally and advocate in hospital and at home. They help families feel more confident and less isolated. And by co-ordinating care and being a point of call throughout these crucial years of childhood, they reduce pressure on the NHS, too.
Too many children and their families still don’t have this support. We want to establish more vital Roald Dahl Nurses across the country, to make a difference to more families like those you’ll meet in these stories.
The Impact of Our Roald Dahl Nurses
Roald Dahl Nurses are trained and dedicated specialists who help families by providing coordinated, dedicated, and holistic care.
They are a consistent presence in the child’s life from initial diagnosis through to transition to adult services. They don’t just provide care and advise; they reassure and are a pillar of strength in times of uncertainty.
Together, we can make a real difference – because every seriously ill child deserves a Roald Dahl Nurse.
