Florence Nightingale Leadership Programme 2025

Nineteen Roald Dahl Nurses celebrate their achievements on completing the Florence Nightingale Leadership Development Programme

Ensuring Roald Dahl Nurses receive access to high-quality professional development and have the opportunity to work on innovation projects are two priorities for the charity.  This year, nineteen Roald Dahl Nurses completed the Florence Nightingale Leadership Development Programme. The Leadership Programme facilitates both goals and allows nurses to focus on developing their individual and collective leadership skills. To improve outcomes for patients and staff, their approaches must be underpinned by evidence and quality improvement methodology.  The nurses undertook the programme for six months where they participated in a range of online sessions.

During the training, all participants undertook a quality improvement (QI) project to apply what they had learned to their working context. They identified innovative and creative ways to engage patients, strengthen systems and processes, and improve the quality of services.   Nurses will present their chosen quality improvement projects and celebrate their marvellous achievements during the celebration day on March 24th.

Michelle Kukielka, Associate Director of Programmes at Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity says: 'Roald Dahl Nurses are experts in their field and a vital lifeline for seriously ill children and their families. I am so proud of all our nurses, and I know that they will use new skills and knowledge to innovate, problem-solve, and inspire; to further improve the lives of the children and families in their care'.
